Acoustic Storm Christmas & More….

The holidays are here, and that means "An Acoustic Storm Christmas" will arrive the weekend of 12/21-22.  Enjoy acoustic-rock for the season with holiday tunes from artists like John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, The Pretenders and Jackson Browne, plus a special double-bill of Jethro Tull and ELP in the Eye of The Storm.
December's other artists in the Eye of The Storm include CCR, Carole King and Paul McCartney.

Thanksgiving Gratitude

We'll start November in the Eye of The Storm with Crosby Stills & Nash. The month will also highlight Eric Clapton unplugging his old band Derek & the Dominos, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and Peter Frampton.  Our annual musical feast in honor of Thanksgiving continues with "Alice's Restaurant" from Arlo Guthrie the weekend of 11/23-11/24.

Acoustic Storm's 15th Anniversary


The Acoustic Storm is celebrating its 15th anniversary this month.  On October 25, 1998 the sound of thunder signified the debut of the show on 100.7 KSLX in Phoenix, Arizona. Thanks for helping to keep The Storm going strong for 15 years!

We'll commemorate The Acoustic Storm's milestone with theme sets consisting of "stormy" songs on the last weekend of October with rainy tracks from Zeppelin, James Taylor and CCR and Bob Dylan will go into The Eye of The Storm, including a live version of "Blowin' in the Wind." 

John Lennon, The Who and Billy Joel will also get the Storm spotlight this month.

Summer to Fall: September, 2013


As summer turns to autumn, we're making the most of our five Acoustic Storms during the month of September.
The Labor Day weekend edition of The Storm featured some "working" music from 
The Stones, Van Morrison, Jackson Browne, and of course, Men at Work, among others.  Plus, James Taylor went into the Eye of The Storm.
The month will progress with Steely Dan, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin and Heart as the featured artists in the Eye of The Storm.

The Storm for August

This month marks the 44th anniversary of Woodstock, so on the weekend of 8/17-8/18, we'll remember that historic music festival with some Storm sets consisting of artists who performed at Yasgur's Farm in upstate New York in August, 1969.  A special double-bill of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin will top the bill in the Eye of The Storm.

July on The Acoustic Storm


July brings some acoustic fireworks, as we'll celebrate American independence and do some summertime traveling with a couple of theme shows this month on The Acoustic Storm.

The All-American Acoustic Storm is scheduled for the weekend of 7/6-7/7. Michigan's Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band will go into the Eye of The Storm, and we'll traverse the U.S. with music from Bruce  Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, The Doors, John Mellencamp, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and many more.  

The road will beckon again later in the month when The Storm's summer travel edition hits the airwaves, with the all-star band The Traveling Wilburys in words and music. That five-man group consisted of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne.

June 2013 on The Acoustic Storm


Last month, we lost a great one with the passing of Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist and one of the founding members of The Doors.  So we'll pay tribute to his rich musical legacy by featuring The Doors in the Eye of The Storm 6/8-6/9.

The Acoustic Storm will celebrate Father's Day 6/15-6/16 with some paternally-minded theme sets in the second half of each hour of the show, and Eric Clapton will get the spotlight that weekend.

Canadian acoustic-rock will be the main subject of the 6/29-6/30 Acoustic Storm with Neil Young in words and music in the Eye of the Storm.  Plus, you'll hear several other artists from the Great White North, including The Guess Who, Joni Mitchell, Bryan Adams, and The Band.

Storms in May


The Acoustic Storm will warm up during May with theme shows for Mothers Day and Memorial Day. 

We'll take a closer listen to Jackson Browne, live and acoustic, the weekend of 5/4-5/5.  Then the moms of the world take over for the second Storm of the month with The Beatles in the Eye.  

For the weekend of 5/18-5/19, we'll unplug with Van Halen, featuring both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Bruce Springsteen will help wrap up May with The Acoustic Storm's Memorial Day Weekend show, as we remember the men and women who sacrificed their lives to serve our country.

April Storms


This month, The Acoustic Storm will be celebrating Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, Earth Day, and the official announcement of another Rolling Stones concert tour. 
During the weekend of 4/6-4/7, we'll feature some of the artists that are getting the call into the Hall with Donovan in the Eye of The Storm, along with class of 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Heart, Rush and Randy Newman. 
Mother Nature takes over on The Storm the weekend of 4/20-21 with environmentally-inspired music from The Beatles, Neil Young, Kansas, Joni Mitchell and many more, including The Eagles in the Eye of The Acoustic Storm.
For the last weekend of April, we'll concentrate on The Rolling Stones in The Eye. The band just set some May concert dates for their 2013 North American tour, which they've dubbed "50 and Counting."

Marching Forward on The Storm

For many Storm listeners, it's been a long, cold winter.  So we'll try to warm things up this month with some springtime songs the weekend of 3/23-3/24, and then a few baseball-inspired tunes the following weekend. 

George Harrison would have been 70 on February 25, and for the weekend of 3/2-3/3, we'll remember George as a solo artist, with the Beatles, and as a member of the Traveling Wilburys.

St. Patrick's Day falls on a Sunday this year, so we'll salute the Emerald Isle with Van Morrison in the Eye of The Acoustic Storm the weekend of 3/16-3/17.

February 2013

We've got a couple of themes for February on The Acoustic Storm.  You've gotta have Heart to celebrate Valentine's Day, so we'll feature Ann & Nancy Wilson in the Eye of The Storm the weekend of 2/9-2/10.  

Cinematic acoustic-rock will be theme on the last weekend of the month, as we'll salute the Academy Awards with a special "Silver Screen" edition of The Acoustic Storm, and zoom in on The Doors.

Other February Storm artists include Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins & Genesis (2/2-2/3), and America (2/16-2/17).
